Dr. Hamann received his medical degree from Loma Linda University, where he specialized in Preventive Medicine. He is currently the CEO and Medical Director of SmartHealth, a health care supply company.
Dr. Hamann and his colleagues have conducted extensive research into the problems associated with both Type I and Type IV allergies and have been instrumental in the development of latex-free polymers used in the production of non-latex thin-film medical devices such as surgical and examination gloves and condoms. He served as a member of the Health Industry Manufacturers Association (HIMA) Latex Task Force and is regarded as an authority on the subject of latex hypersensitivity and polymer research.
In collaboration with the American Dental Association Health Foundation (ADAHF), the American Dental Hygienist Association (ADHA) and the Association of Operating Room Nurses, Dr. Hamann and his associates continue to conduct ongoing clinical trials and have provided NRL hypersensitivity screenings to over 10,000 healthcare professionals between 1994-2000. In addition, Dr. Hamann has directed the development and implementation of comprehensive NRL management programs for many institutional and private office healthcare facilities. These programs facilitate the appropriate screening and management of latex-allergic workers and patients in hospitals, surgi-centers, out-patient facilities and medical and dental offices throughout the United States.
